How to Sell Your Car Quickly in Ghana

Selling a car privately usually gets you a better price than trading it in. With a little preparation you can do it safely and quickly.

Get your paperwork ready

Before you list, gather the vehicle registration documents, your roadworthy certificate and any service or repair records. Buyers feel far more comfortable — and pay more — when the paperwork is clean and complete. Make sure the car is fully paid off and there are no outstanding issues with the DVLA.

Clean and inspect it

A thorough wash, a vacuumed interior and a quick fix of small faults (a blown bulb, a worn wiper) make a strong first impression. If anything major is wrong, decide whether to repair it or to price the car accordingly and disclose it.

Set a fair price

Research what similar makes, models and years are selling for on AnySell. Factor in mileage and condition. Price a little above your minimum so there is room to negotiate, but stay realistic — overpriced cars are ignored.

Take good photos

Shoot the exterior from all four corners, the interior, the dashboard with the odometer visible, the engine bay and the tyres. Daylight and a clean background make the car look its best. Add the make, model, year and mileage in the listing fields so it appears in buyers' searches.

Safety: Meet buyers in a public place during the day, bring someone with you, and accompany them on test drives. Confirm payment has fully cleared before you hand over keys or documents.

Handle the handover

Once you agree a price, complete the change of ownership properly so the car is no longer registered in your name. Keep a copy of everything you sign.
